The Chartered Institute of Marketing has accredited Capela Travel Marketing to offer training leading to its Professional Diploma in Tourism Marketing.
Capela is the only study centre licensed to deliver the qualification both in the UK and internationally.
The course follows a learning programme which combines home study with periodic intensive tutorials and phone and online support from a personal tutor. Assessment is available entirely by project so no exams are required.
Capela claims its tutors achieve pass rates of more than 90%, compared with a national CIM average around 65%. Normally the four modules can be completed within a year but Capela will offer tuition and support for up to two years.
The training course is suited for marketing managers in travel, tourism and hospitality; overseas and UK tourist offices; tourism business owners who need to market their business effectively and marketers who aspire to work in travel and tourism.
The course costs £1,100 for tuition, books, materials and tutorials plus CIM registration and any exam fees.
Capela director Gary Grieve, formerly with Jetlife Holidays, Bridge Travel and Saga Holidays, said: “The CIM has woken up to the scale and potential of the travel industry. In the past their courses may have seemed to focus on manufacturing and FMCG. This is no longer the case as the development of the Tourism Marketing Diploma demonstrates.
“From this course students will acquire a broad background in both travel and general marketing. Most students choose to be assessed by project rather than exams, meaning they can build a portfolio of reports on their own organisation which are invaluable to their employers.”
