CIM Diploma in Tourism Marketing 2008-2010

Why did you choose to study the CIM Diploma in Tourism Marketing?
My degree is in American History and Politics and after years working in tourism PR and marketing, I decided I wanted to get an academic qualification to strengthen my marketing credibility and everything I had learnt. The Chartered Institute of Marketing is a well respected organization and I knew I wanted a qualification from this prestigious body. I love working in the travel industry and I knew I wanted to stay in it, so the Tourism Marketing Diploma was the perfect choice for me.

Was the Capela course what you expected?
Yes and I found that the personal approach the tutors took to each module exceeded my expectations. All of the tutors are extremely experienced and this really came through in the seminars when we applied theory to personal experiences of marketing.

What impact has this qualification had on your career or ability to carry out your job?
I am practically applying what I learnt on the course on a daily basis and now have the confidence to be more pro-active with implementing and managing marketing campaigns.

Any further comments?
I was a bit nervous about studying again but my first seminar group was intimate and the tutor so welcoming, it was so easy to get back into. Each of the seminars I attended were steadily paced and the tutors made sure that everybody interacted with each other, and everyone was heard. A lot of ground was covered in the two day seminars and you come away completely fired up and ready to crack on with your paper.

The tutors were always so helpful, answering any queries you may have, but one of Capela’s biggest strengths, I think, is the strong communication you receive from them. Working full time and studying means you can sometime lose track of time, but Capela constantly updates you about deadlines, registration, results, events etc. It was very reassuring to know that throughout studying for this diploma, I had the support of knowledgeable tutors who gave me constructive feedback on each of my papers.
